Purbaya Reveals Internal Dynamics Behind Replacement of Two Directors General

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has explained the reasons behind the replacement of two echelon I officials at the Ministry of Finance. The positions replaced include Director General of Budget Luky Alfirman and Director General of Economic and Fiscal Strategy Febrio Nathan Kacaribu. Purbaya stated that this decision is related to internal dynamics. He alluded to subordinates who did not align when receiving instructions from leadership. “The first one reportedly said the money would only last three weeks. Then now it’s coming out again, leaving Rp 120 trillion (SAL),” said Purbaya during a media briefing in Jakarta on Friday (24/4). He also highlighted other circulating information. The narrative claimed that he was closed off, unable to speak English, and was advised not to meet investors. Purbaya assessed that the dissemination of invalid information is a reason for the need for internal improvements. “That’s from internal sources. So we’re tidying it up a bit,” explained Purbaya. Ferry Ardiyanto has been appointed as Acting Director General of Economic and Fiscal Stability. Sudarto has been appointed as Acting Director General of Budget.
