Purbaya Reveals Indonesia's Economic Resilience Amid Iran–US–Israel War
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has said that economic issues were discussed in the meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and former presidents and vice presidents, as well as the general chairmen of political parties, at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, on Tuesday night, 3 March 2026. He told reporters after the meeting.
‘There were discussions, among other things, about what would happen if this crisis lasts longer, how sustainable the budget is, what the budget would look like,’ he said.
According to him, analyses carried out by the Ministry of Finance currently show no problems. Tax receipts have improved, with 30% growth in January–February.
‘That is a very significant figure. It means there is a significant improvement in the economy and in people’s behaviour, tax and customs,’ he said.
When asked how strong the economy is amid the escalation, Purbaya said the Ministry of Finance had run simulations using oil price assumptions at a certain level for a year.
‘So it can still be absorbed if oil prices rise, if they rise too high. But if it is extremely high, we will recalculate,’ he said.
