Purbaya Reveals Impact of Free Nutritious Meals Programme in Central Java, Creating 193,000 Jobs

Semarang, CNBC Indonesia - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has revealed that the government’s priority programme, the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG), has already reached a significant number of beneficiaries in Central Java.

Purbaya explained that by mid-2026, the MBG programme has reached 9.16 million beneficiaries in Central Java. Furthermore, the 4,635 Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) in Central Java have involved approximately 18,854 local suppliers and created more than 193,000 job vacancies.

“This programme contributes to improving the quality of human resources while simultaneously strengthening the social resilience of the community,” said Purbaya during his visit to Central Java, as quoted from a press release in Semarang on Friday (3/7/2026).

Purbaya continued that the Directorate General of Treasury of the Ministry of Finance (DJPb) is currently conducting monitoring through assistance carried out by the DJPb Regional Office and the KPPN of Central Java, including at the Wonosari Gunting Klaten SPPG, the Mertoyudan Sukerejo Magelang SPPG, and the Tengaran Bener Semarang SPPG.

This assistance is expected to ensure that the implementation of the MBG Programme proceeds in accordance with regulations, remains accountable, and reaches the intended targets, while also identifying various field obstacles early to find solutions alongside stakeholders.

“The DJPb must monitor all government priority programmes, including conducting national and structured monitoring of the MBG,” stated Purbaya.
