Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has revealed the Indonesian government’s strategies to make US investors more optimistic about investing in the country. He shared this after holding meetings with several US investors, including BlackRock, Lord Abbett, TD Asset Management, HSBC Global Asset Management, and Lazard AM. One of the government’s strategies, according to Purbaya, is to ensure that the national economy continues to grow positively, in line with the targets set in the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN). “We will continue to ensure that the economy grows in accordance with the targets we have stated,” Purbaya said in his statement, quoted on Thursday, 16 April 2026. He explained that Indonesia’s economy could grow by 5.5 per cent in the first quarter of 2026. If conditions remain strong in the second quarter of 2026, this will certainly make US investors more confident in expanding their investments in Indonesia. “So we are focused on ensuring that our policies are correct, and their implementation is in accordance with the design we have made,” he said. In the meetings with the US investors, Purbaya admitted to receiving positive feedback suggesting that the Indonesian government could improve communication with those investors. This is because, in their view, Indonesia’s macroeconomic foundations are already very solid, so the follow-up is to reassure investors not to fear investing in the country. “Regarding fiscal policy, they are already confident that the direction of the policy is correct. They believe that some international rating agencies were too quick to change Indonesia’s rating,” Purbaya said. “For example, the granting of a negative outlook, where the change was made when the latest economic data was not yet complete,” he added.
