Purbaya Requests Invitation to Attorney General's Auction: 'Can Officials Participate?'
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has asked to be informed whenever the Attorney General’s Office holds another Asset Recovery Agency (BPA) Fair. Purbaya admitted he wants to participate in the auction and secure a bargain.
This was conveyed by Purbaya upon receiving the handover of Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) totalling IDR 1,029,874,376,628 (1.029 trillion) at the BPA Office of the Attorney General’s Office in South Jakarta on Monday (15/6/2026). The handover was conducted directly by Attorney General ST Burhanuddin.
“Mrs Puspa, BPA, is this BPA only in May? Once a year? Every year? Throughout the year? Throughout the year, yes? Next time there is one, please let me know as well. I want to join in,” requested Purbaya during his speech.
“Ready, sir,” replied the Acting Director General of State Assets, Puspa.
Purbaya admitted he wants to follow the auction and get a low price. He also joked that he is the only official with barely enough money. “I have bought at auction before, sir, got land, not bad. This is allowed for officials, right? Is it allowed or not, sir? It is allowed, yes. I want to get a cheap one too. It seems they are not very cheap, the prices are raised, yes. When I look, the opening price is cheap, but in the end it is high too. But I want to know, ma’am,” said Purbaya.
“Ready, sir, we will inform you later,” said Puspa.
“Tell other officials to buy too if there is one. Maybe they are not brave enough to buy, right, sir? Perhaps they are already rich? Only my money is barely enough,” continued Purbaya.
On this occasion, Purbaya also asked whether the items not paid for by three auction winners included a Harley Davidson. Purbaya admitted he wanted to redeem it if available. “What are the items, sir? Is there no Harley Davidson, ma’am? If there is a Harley-Davidson, I want to redeem it, sir,” said Purbaya.
“I don’t have a motorbike, but my wife won’t let me buy one, sir. It’s just a dream, sir,” he added.
