Purbaya reports state budget deficit of Rp196.5 trillion as of June 2026

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa reported that the State Budget (APBN) recorded a deficit of Rp196.5 trillion, or 0.76 percent of gross domestic product (GDP), as of June 2026.

“With strong revenue growth, productive spending, and measured expenditure management, the deficit remains under control at Rp196.5 trillion or 0.76 percent of GDP,” Purbaya said during the APBN KiTa July 2026 Press Conference in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Purbaya stated that the positive trend in the state budget’s performance was underpinned by robust state revenue and effectively managed spending.

Overall, state revenue reached Rp1,459.4 trillion, growing 21.4 percent compared to the same period in 2025. He explained that tax revenue was recorded at Rp1,187.8 trillion, supported by tax receipts of Rp1,035.7 trillion, which grew 24.6 percent. Meanwhile, customs and excise revenue reached Rp145 trillion, growing 3.4 percent.

Non-tax state revenue (PNBP) was realised at Rp271 trillion, an increase of 21.6 percent, whilst grant receipts were recorded at Rp7 billion, growing 10.2 percent. Purbaya added that this fiscal performance was also a factor supporting Indonesia in maintaining its BBB credit rating for long-term debt and A-2 rating for short-term debt.

On the spending side, state expenditure realisation reached Rp1,656 trillion, growing 17.8 percent compared to the same period the previous year. Central government spending dominated with a realisation of Rp1,298.6 trillion, an increase of 29.4 percent. In detail, ministry and agency spending reached Rp658.9 trillion, growing 40 percent, whilst non-ministry and agency spending amounted to Rp639.7 trillion, an increase of 20 percent. Meanwhile, Transfers to Regions (TKD) were realised at Rp357.4 trillion, growing 11.2 percent. With these achievements, the primary balance recorded a surplus of Rp85.1 trillion.
