President Prabowo Subianto has officially inaugurated Suahasil Nazara as Minister of Finance on Monday (14/9/2026). Suahasil replaces Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, who had served as finance minister for roughly a year.

Governor of Jakarta Pramono Anung said the cabinet reshuffle is entirely within President Prabowo’s authority. However, he stated that the Jakarta Provincial Government stands ready to work with the new finance minister appointed by the President.

“So if you ask me what matters most, this is entirely the President’s choice, and we will certainly be able to work with anyone,” he said on Monday evening.

When asked about the revenue-sharing funds (DBH) owed to the Jakarta Provincial Government that have yet to be paid, Pramono declined to comment explicitly. He merely expressed hope that the new finance minister could carry out his duties well.

According to the former Cabinet Secretary, the finance minister holds a strategic position in government, as the minister is tasked with managing the state treasury.

“Therefore, hopefully the President’s decision on the finance minister is for the best, and we pray for the best, and that he can resolve many matters at the same time,” said Pramono.

It is worth noting that Pramono had previously asked the Ministry of Finance to promptly return Jakarta’s DBH funds, which were cut for the 2026 fiscal year. The request came after Purbaya judged that the Jakarta Provincial Government did not need to issue municipal bonds, as it already had a substantial budget.
