Purbaya Promises to Hand Over Data on Rogue Coal Exporters to Attorney General's Office
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has pledged to submit findings of alleged underinvoicing and transfer pricing practices by coal exporters to the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung). Purbaya had previously handed over findings of similar alleged practices by CPO exporters to the AGO. “There are, we will hand them over again (to the Kejagung),” he stated at the Parliamentary Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday. On this occasion, Purbaya noted that the AGO has already examined findings concerning 10 companies suspected of underinvoicing and transfer pricing. He has fully delegated the examination results to the AGO but did not disclose when the review would be completed. “The AGO has already examined them, hasn’t it? We leave it entirely to the AGO,” he asserted. The AGO has initiated an investigation into several CPO companies suspected of underinvoicing and transfer pricing. Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, Director of Investigations at the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), stated that the probe into the manipulation or transfer pricing case has been underway for over a month. He mentioned that several witnesses have been identified. According to Syarief, the data from Finance Minister Purbaya strengthens findings already held by investigators. “There is data from the minister, supplementing the data we have,” he said. He confirmed that the status of the case remains under general investigation.
