Purbaya Promises Additional Economic Stimulus for Q2-2026
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has revealed that the government will once again deploy economic stimulus for the second quarter of 2026 period. According to him, the additional stimulus programme is necessary for the domestic economy, considering the significant global economic pressures. Although the realisation of economic growth in the first quarter of 2026 was still able to grow rapidly to 5.61% year-on-year, the highest since the third quarter of 2022. “We are looking at all the existing economic variables and it seems the government will still provide additional stimulus to the economy in this second quarter,” said Purbaya while leading the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK) press conference in Jakarta, Thursday (7/5/2026). Purbaya has not detailed the stimulus plan that has been prepared. However, he emphasised that the stimulus will support various government strategic programme accelerations, strengthen incoming investments into the country, and encourage job creation. He is confident that with various government efforts to boost domestic economic activity amid significant global economic uncertainty, Indonesia’s economic growth throughout this year could move to the 6% year-on-year level. “We will continue to push upwards, hopefully approaching 6% by the end of the year,” said Purbaya.
