Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has prepared a budget of almost Rp7 trillion to improve the National Socio-Economic Single Data (DTSEN) and carry out an economic census. The data improvement follows the discovery of persistent problems in the classification of citizens by decile.

Purbaya said the budget would be used, among other things, to support Statistics Indonesia (BPS) in improving the quality of DTSEN. The government has also fulfilled the additional budget requested by BPS at the beginning of the year.

“So the DTSEN data and the economic census, if I am not mistaken, is almost Rp7 trillion, slightly more than Rp7 trillion. It covers various things, quite a lot, including BPS,” Purbaya told reporters in Jakarta on Wednesday (26/8/2026).

According to Purbaya, improving DTSEN data is important to ensure that government policies are properly targeted. He expressed hope that data quality would be better next year.

“They asked for time at the beginning of the year, and we fulfilled the additional budget to ensure the DTSEN is good. So next year it should be better,” he said.

Purbaya said errors in data collection remain possible, but the government will strive to reduce them. This follows the emergence of several cases in which members of the public were deemed not to match their decile classification in DTSEN.
