Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has revealed that the government will provide incentives to stock market players on the domestic exchange. He emphasised this during the inauguration of the Planned and Periodic Investment Programme (PINTAR) for Mutual Funds and the opening of Mutual Funds Week 2026 at the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI), on Monday (27/4/2026).

Purbaya stated that the new incentives would be granted if the PINTAR programme runs as planned over the next six months.

According to him, this programme is one of the efforts to deepen the capital market by increasing domestic investor participation. With a stronger base of local investors, stock index movements are expected to be less easily influenced by foreign investor activities.

“If the programme runs well, let’s say six months from now, you can come to me and ask for incentives,” Purbaya said during a press conference at the BEI building in South Jakarta, on Monday (27/4/2026).

Purbaya has not yet determined the type of tax incentive to be implemented, for example, a reduction in income tax.

“I haven’t decided yet, but income from it could potentially be exempted from tax,” Purbaya said. Unfortunately, he revealed that there is no definite target for the amount of incentives to be given.

“No, I will ask for the report on how it goes. So that the people enter the mutual fund system,” he stated.

However, he assured that the impact must be significant. If it is small, Purbaya admitted he would be reluctant to issue the incentives.

“There is additional money that can direct the economy. That’s what we look at. But if the amount is small, why should I bother? If it’s large and good, we will see, thank you,” he explained.
