Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has affirmed that President Prabowo Subianto has never requested the preparation of a budget to pay membership dues to the Board of Peace (BoP).

According to him, there has never been any instruction from Prabowo regarding the provision of funds for the dues to the institution established by US President Donald Trump.

“I have never received instructions from the President to provide money for BoP,” said Purbaya at the Ministry of Finance in Jakarta on Tuesday (21/4/2026).

“Up to now, there is no commitment to pay that I know of from President Prabowo. The President always says no. We have no commitment to pay,” he stated.

Purbaya noted that the government’s stance has been consistent in offering support only in the form of personnel.

“From the first day, he (President Prabowo) committed to sending troops, but there is no commitment to pay. Especially not using my money for Israel,” said Purbaya.

The state treasurer also emphasised that since the initial decision to join BoP, Indonesia has never promised to contribute to the funding dues.

Previously, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto affirmed that Indonesia has never promised to donate US$1 billion to the Peace Council or Board of Peace (BoP) championed by US President Donald Trump.

“So, we never said that we want to join the US$1 billion dues,” said Prabowo during a discussion with journalists and experts, quoted from a release by the Indonesian Communication Agency (Bakom) on Saturday (21/3/2026).

The Head of State emphasised that the government has never committed any money to the United States upon joining BoP.

According to him, this is evident from Indonesia’s absence from the founding donors meeting on 19 February.

The Head of State also conveyed that Indonesia is ready to be part of the Board of Peace only to contribute peacekeeping troops to protect Gaza residents. “We have stated our readiness to send peacekeeping troops as needed,” said Prabowo.

In addition, Prabowo stated that the government will continue to follow future developments related to Gaza.

Indonesia may also consider further contributions if Gaza’s reconstruction can begin.
