Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has revealed that he will soon fulfil the Hajj pilgrimage. The former LPS chief is scheduled to depart on 21 May 2026. He stated that he will pray for Indonesia’s economy to grow even stronger.

“A prayer so that our economy becomes even stronger, in three years we will all be rich together,” said Purbaya when met in Central Jakarta on Wednesday (6/5/2026).

Purbaya also explained that Indonesia is beginning to escape the curse of 5% economic growth. This is because Indonesia’s economic growth in the first quarter of 2026 was recorded at 5.61%.

“We hope for even faster growth ahead; we will maintain the existing growth momentum. But friends, please also pray for us, don’t keep badmouthing,” he said.

According to him, Indonesia’s 5.61% economic growth in the first quarter of 2026 is a miracle. With a strategy of transferring half of the Budget Surplus Balance amounting to Rp300 trillion to the banking sector, growth can move faster.

“Especially since we succeeded last time; if I say so, it’s a miracle. With the same budget, without additional money, we can create faster growth,” he said.

“By just transferring money from BI to the banking sector, that’s it, besides other programmes of course. That means I can boost economic growth without capital,” he added.
