Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Ministry of Finance is preparing a quota for recruiting 380 high school (SMA) graduates in the recruitment of employees for the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC). Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stated that the status of these high school graduate employees will not be civil servants (PNS), but rather Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK). He said that this recruitment process is an effort to realise the need for new customs officers that he has conveyed since the end of last year, but which has yet to be realised. “We have long said to open 380 positions at Customs for high school graduates,” Purbaya said at his office in Jakarta on Tuesday (7/4/2026). Purbaya emphasised that the job vacancies being opened as customs field officers are specifically for high school graduates. “Because I also need people at the technical level in the field. Maybe next month we open the 300 for high school graduates. So next month,” Purbaya said. On that occasion, Purbaya also emphasised that the budget for procuring civil servant candidates (CASN) for 2026, including for CPNS formations, is actually already available. However, he said that the execution of its implementation is entirely in the hands of the Minister of State Apparatus Utilization and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB), Rini Widyantini. “It’s with the Minister of PANRB,” Purbaya stressed. Purbaya himself hopes that this recruitment can start at the end of this month. “Let’s speed it up, we’ll see if it can be at the end of this month,” he said.
