Purbaya Places Up to Rp400 Trillion in State Funds with Himbara Banks
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa is placing up to Rp400 trillion in government funds with state-owned banks (Himbara) to combat a liquidity shortage. The decision follows complaints from the state banks about tightening liquidity. Previously, the government had placed around Rp300 trillion in Himbara during 2025, but withdrawals in recent months had reduced the balance to approximately Rp170 trillion. The government will now replenish this to Rp200 trillion and add a further Rp200 trillion in two stages by the end of the year, bringing the total placement to Rp400 trillion. “There is already a liquidity drought there. I told them I would return the government’s money to Himbara, and even increase it,” Purbaya said during a media briefing in Jakarta on Friday. He noted that the decision was made after coordinating with President Prabowo to ensure the economy continues to move. Purbaya added that the directors of the Himbara banks, who were initially anxious, welcomed the policy after a meeting on Friday.
