Purbaya: Pertamax Price Hike Will Not Impact Inflation
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa assessed that the increase in the price of Pertamax fuel will not have a significant impact on inflation. This is because Pertamax is not a subsidised fuel commonly used for public transport and freight. “The impact (on inflation) should be relatively minimal because Pertamax is usually not used for goods transport or public transport,” Purbaya told the media after a working meeting with Commission XI of the House of Representatives (DPR) at the Parliamentary Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday (10/6). Regarding the strategy to maintain the subsidised fuel quota to prevent it from being breached, the state treasurer referred the matter to the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia. “Ask Mr Bahlil about that, there should be another method. Nozzle control, if I’m not mistaken, ask Mr Bahlil who knows better,” said Purbaya. As previously reported, Pertamina Patra Niaga increased the prices of Pertamax and Pertamax Green as of today, 10 June 2026. In detail, the price of Pertamax (RON 92) went from Rp12,300 per litre to Rp16,250 per litre, and Pertamax Green 95 (RON 95) from Rp12,900 per litre to Rp17,000 per litre. Meanwhile, subsidised fuels, both the gasoline type Pertalite and the gasoil type Biosolar, did not experience an increase and remain priced at Rp10,000 per litre for Pertalite and Rp6,800 per litre for Biosolar. Pertamina Patra Niaga Corporate Secretary Roberth MV Dumatubun stated that this price adjustment was decided after coordination with the government as the regulator and was carried out according to a periodic evaluation mechanism. This took into account the development of world oil prices and economic market prices. “The adjustment of non-subsidised fuel prices follows applicable regulations and is part of the implementation of energy governance aimed at maintaining a balance between business sustainability, service quality, and certainty of energy supply for the public,” said Roberth in his statement on Wednesday (10/6). He also confirmed that the supply of Pertamax and Pertamax Green remains secure and available across Pertamina’s petrol station network.
