Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa is optimistic that the 2026 national revenue target will be met, following improved performance from the Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) and Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DGCE). He noted that revenue improvements are becoming evident after the government restructured both agencies. “It seems the 2026 target will be achievable. Customs performance will also be strong, so we are already seeing results from the tax and customs restructuring,” Purbaya said during an interview at the DGT Central Office in Jakarta on Wednesday, 27 May 2026. Performance has been optimised through technology adoption, including artificial intelligence (AI), which supports efficiency and revenue optimisation. The state treasurer also highlighted the Coretax system’s positive outcomes despite ongoing taxpayer complaints. “It should be more efficient. Coretax was heavily criticised before, and there are still some complaints, but fewer. Coretax has boosted tax revenue significantly. With Coretax, everything is calculated almost automatically, so people can’t evade it,” he added. The 2026 State Budget (APBN) sets the national revenue target at Rp3,153.6 trillion. As of April 2026, actual revenue reached Rp918.4 trillion, a 13.3% year-on-year increase.
