Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has revealed that the government will open 380 job vacancies for high school graduates to strengthen the Directorate General of Customs and Excise.

This policy is intended to meet the increasingly urgent need for technical personnel in the field.

“In Finance itself, it’s not long as I said before, we’re opening 380 positions for high school graduates in Customs and Excise. Because I also need people who truly work at the technical field level. Perhaps it will open next month,” Purbaya stated when met at the Ministry of Finance on Tuesday (7/4/2026).

These needs encompass activities for supervising incoming and outgoing goods, including at ports and airports, which require quick responses and direct presence of officers.

Purbaya also acknowledged that previous recruitment processes had taken quite a long time. Therefore, the government is pushing to accelerate the selection process so that operational manpower needs can be met promptly.

This step is expected to strengthen supervisory functions while improving services in the customs and excise sector, amid increasing trade flows.

In addition, strengthening human resources is considered important to prevent violations, including smuggling, and to optimise state revenues from that sector.

“CPNS is under MenpanRB. The budget should be there,” he said.

He assured that from the budget side, the government has the capacity to support employee expenditure needs, including if CPNS recruitment is opened again.
