Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has reported that the budget realisation for the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme reached Rp 101.1 trillion by the end of the second quarter of 2026, serving 63.13 million beneficiaries. Speaking at a press conference on the results of the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK) periodic meeting in Jakarta on Monday, 3 August 2026, Purbaya also noted that the Sekolah Rakyat programme’s budget realisation amounted to Rp 13.1 trillion for 104 permanent schools. “This budget realisation reflects the role of the state budget (APBN), which is directed as an agent of development to accelerate the implementation of priority programmes,” Purbaya said. In addition to acting as an agent of development, Purbaya confirmed that the APBN remains optimised to serve as a shock absorber and to protect the poor. As a shock absorber, the government is maintaining public purchasing power as well as price and supply stability for fuel and food through subsidies and compensation, with realisations reaching Rp 116.0 trillion and Rp 116.9 trillion respectively. Purbaya added that the social protection function for poor and vulnerable communities continues through various programmes such as the Family Hope Programme (PKH), the Sembako Card, and the Indonesia Smart Programme (PIP), with realisations of Rp 14.5 trillion, Rp 19.7 trillion, and Rp 8.8 trillion respectively. “To maintain growth momentum, the government is also providing various stimulus packages that support business sustainability and economic activity, including tax incentives for national writers, transport discounts during the Eid and school holiday periods, as well as internship and vocational programmes,” Purbaya stated. Overall, state expenditure realisation reached Rp 1,656.0 trillion by the end of Q2 2026, growing 17.8 percent year-on-year (yoy). Central government spending realisation reached Rp 1,298.6 trillion, growing 29.4 percent yoy. The spending realisation was influenced by, among other things, the implementation of the MBG programme, distribution of social assistance, infrastructure development, holiday bonus and 13th-month salary payments, pension benefit payments, and fuel and electricity subsidy and compensation payments. Meanwhile, state revenue realisation reached Rp 1,459.4 trillion by the end of Q2 2026, posting strong growth of 21.4 percent yoy. Tax revenue realisation reached Rp 1,035.7 trillion, surging 24.6 percent yoy, influenced by improving economic conditions, the positive impact of Coretax implementation, and intensification and extensification efforts.
