Purbaya Expresses Condolences on the Death of Customs Officer on Duty at Sea

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has expressed his condolences over the death of an employee of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC), Aditya Waskita Jauhari. The deceased, an officer at the Pekanbaru Type Madya Pabean B Customs Supervision and Service Office (KPPBC TMP B), died whilst conducting a physical inspection of export cargo (final draft) on the MV Himala V.195 in the waters off Tanjung Buton, Siak Regency, Riau, in the early hours of Monday, 7 July 2026.

“Innalillahi wainnailaihi rojiun. I, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia, on behalf of myself and the entire extended family of the Ministry of Finance, express my deepest condolences on the passing of Aditya Waskita Jauhari, an officer at KPPBC TMP B Pekanbaru DJBC,” said Purbaya, as quoted from the official Instagram account @menkeuri on Wednesday, 8 July 2026. The deceased was known to be carrying out customs supervision duties on a bulk export commodity of Palm Kernel Shell submitted by an exporter.

Purbaya stressed that this incident must serve as a reminder that Ministry of Finance employees in various regions work with numerous risks whilst performing their duties, including risks from weather conditions, work terrain, and unpredictable situations. “May all his faults and sins be forgiven, his good deeds accepted, his grave widened, and may the deceased be granted the best place by God Almighty,” Purbaya said. “To the bereaved family, we extend our respect, sympathy, and sincere prayers. May the family be given strength, fortitude, and sincerity in facing this loss,” he added.

The Finance Minister also expressed his appreciation to all Ministry of Finance employees serving in various regions. He also urged all ranks to continue carrying out their duties whilst paying attention to occupational safety aspects. “Not only at the head office, but also in the regions, service offices, supervisory offices, in the field, and at the front lines of state service,” Purbaya said. “I understand that many duties are invisible to the public, many sacrifices are not always heard, but all of it is very meaningful for this country. Stay strong in spirit, maintain safety, and carry out your duties as best as possible,” he concluded.
