Purbaya evaluates one-year performance, highlights economic growth achievement

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Former Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa considers his performance during roughly one year leading the Ministry of Finance to be fairly good, one indication being the performance of national economic growth.
“At the very least, it’s been quite decent. We have raised economic growth from, what was it, 5 per cent, below 5 per cent, to above 5 per cent,” Purbaya told reporters after the handover ceremony of the Finance Minister of the Republic of Indonesia at the Finance Ministry office in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Purbaya was appointed Finance Minister on 8 September 2025, based on Presidential Decree Number 86/P of 2025 concerning the dismissal and appointment of state ministers and deputy ministers of the Red and White Cabinet for the 2024-2029 term.
During his tenure, the national economy recorded growth of 5.39 per cent (year-on-year/yoy) in the fourth quarter of 2025.
The economy then grew 5.61 per cent (yoy) in the first quarter and 5.29 per cent (yoy) in the second quarter of 2026.
On the same occasion, Purbaya said he had no special message for the new Finance Minister, Suahasil Nazara.
According to Purbaya, Suahasil already has the capacity to carry out his duties as Finance Minister.
“There’s no message; he’s already an expert. Just let him carry on according to his own expertise,” he said.
The handover of the Finance Minister post from Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa to Suahasil Nazara was officially conducted at the Finance Ministry office on Tuesday, one day after the inauguration ceremony at the State Palace in Jakarta on Monday (14/9).
Suahasil was inaugurated as the new Finance Minister as stipulated in Presidential Decree Number 97/P of 2026 concerning the dismissal and appointment of the Finance Minister of the Red and White Cabinet for the remainder of the 2024-2029 term, issued on 14 September 2026 by President Prabowo Subianto.
Suahasil is the third Finance Minister under the administration of President Prabowo Subianto. The previous Finance Minister, Purbaya, was appointed on 8 September 2025 to replace Sri Mulyani.
Suahasil previously served as Deputy Finance Minister since the Indonesia Onward Cabinet under President Joko Widodo, and continued into the Red and White Cabinet under President Prabowo Subianto.
