Purbaya Ensures State Budget Allocation for 'Sekolah Rakyat' Program is Running Optimally

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has emphasised the state’s commitment to supporting human resource development through financial backing from the State Budget (APBN). This affirmation was made during a monitoring visit to the Integrated ‘Sekolah Rakyat’ 2 in Surabaya, East Java, on Saturday, 1 August 2026.

“One of the Ministry of Finance’s duties is to ensure the availability of the budget so that this programme can run optimally,” stated Purbaya, as quoted from a written statement received in Jakarta. During the visit, Purbaya reiterated that the ‘Sekolah Rakyat’ (People’s School) is one of President Prabowo Subianto’s priority programmes, aimed at expanding access to quality education for Indonesian children.

The former LPS chief expressed hope that the learning opportunities provided through the ‘Sekolah Rakyat’ programme would equip students to achieve a better future and enhance social mobility through education. The visit also served as an opportunity for the Finance Minister to directly observe the implementation of state budget usage in supporting educational provision. His presence underscores that educational financing represents a long-term government investment in cultivating a superior generation towards ‘Indonesia Emas 2045’.

The Integrated ‘Sekolah Rakyat’ 2 in Surabaya was constructed on 6.6 hectares of land with a construction contract value of Rp3.52 trillion and a total budget ceiling of Rp3.82 trillion. To date, the realised construction budget has reached Rp3.21 trillion. The school is designed with an integrated education concept, combining Primary (SD), Junior High (SMP), and Senior High (SMA) levels within a single educational zone. In addition to teaching and learning activities, students also reside in dormitories equipped with various facilities to support the learning process and character building. Through the ‘Sekolah Rakyat’ programme, the government aims not only to provide quality education access for children from families in need but also to build hope for a smart, competitive generation capable of leading the nation in Indonesia’s future.
