Jakarta — Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has assured that the government has not planned the introduction of new taxes in 2027. It has also not prepared any tax-rate increases for that year. However, Purbaya left the door open to gradually considering new tax policies if the economy and citizens’ purchasing power improve. ‘There is none, not right now,’ Purbaya said at a press conference on the Delivery of the Macro Economic Framework and Key Fiscal Policies (KEM PPKF) 2027 at the House of Representatives, on Wednesday 20 May 2026. Although the growth target is relatively high, the government still assesses that state revenue contributions have room to support accelerated development. Therefore, the option of introducing new taxes to bolster revenue has not been pursued. ‘If and when the economy and the public’s purchasing power are healthy enough, we will think about this gradually,’ he added. He emphasised that the government does not want tax policy to depress household purchasing power or hinder national economic growth.
