Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has confirmed that the placement of government funds in the Association of State-Owned Banks (Himbara) will continue. The statement was made following lingering doubts from a number of banks regarding the implementation of the Excess Budget Balance (SAL) injection policy. “Some banks are still unsure whether I will carry out the SAL placement or not. I will emphasise to them again that it will be implemented,” Purbaya told reporters at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026 in Tangerang, Banten, on Tuesday. According to him, the funds amounting to Rp200 trillion will remain placed in Himbara until the end of 2026, with the potential for an extension into next year. Purbaya explained that the disbursement of funds under the scheme of Rp200 trillion plus Rp100 trillion and another Rp100 trillion should begin to be directed to the banking sector. The policy is expected to enhance the financial system’s capacity to channel financing. The additional liquidity is also hoped to be utilised by banks to expand credit distribution to the public and the business sector.
