Purbaya Confirms April 2026 Fiscal Performance Exceeds Analyst Predictions
Jakarta, VIVA – Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stated that the APBN KiTA report for the April 2026 period shows Indonesia’s fiscal performance is in good condition and has exceeded the predictions of analysts. He noted that the government will officially release the APBN KiTA report during a press conference scheduled for Tuesday, 19 May 2026. Purbaya emphasised that the report’s findings reflect a strong national economic foundation.
“The important thing is, tomorrow there will be the APBN KiTA report up to April. The results are good, certainly beyond the expectations of analysts,” Purbaya said at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, on Monday, 18 May 2026. He noted that the government’s fiscal position remains well-maintained despite global external pressures. He also addressed criticisms from certain international parties who have suggested that Indonesia’s fiscal condition is problematic.
Purbaya explained that the government’s economic development strategy does not rely solely on state spending but also encourages the active role of the private sector. He mentioned that Indonesia’s economic growth in the first quarter of 2026, which reached 5.61 per cent, resulted from the combined contributions of various economic sectors. Purbaya considered this growth achievement a significant milestone, particularly as it occurred amidst global economic pressures.
“Our economic fundamentals are good. Our fiscal position is good. Tomorrow, I will hold a press conference regarding the APBN KiTA, which some, such as The Economist magazine, claim is in disarray. That is not the case. We are doing very well, and they do not understand the work we are doing,” he remarked. Purbaya added that economic acceleration has been visible since late last year and has continued into early 2026. He noted that the economic reform policies implemented by President Prabowo Subianto’s administration prior to the emergence of global volatility have been a key factor in maintaining national economic stability.
