The government will implement work from home (WFH) one day each week to save fuel oil (BBM) amid the Middle East turmoil. Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stated that WFH might be carried out every Friday.

Quoted from detikFinance, Purbaya assessed that by implementing WFH, the country could save BBM.

“If we choose Friday, and it’s Friday, there will definitely be BBM savings. What percentage, I don’t know, it can vary depending on oil prices,” Purbaya revealed at the Presidential Palace Complex, Central Jakarta, on Friday (27/3/2026).

He also believes this policy will not disrupt the national economy. According to him, the implementation of WFH is chosen carefully.

“No (it won’t disrupt the economy), if we choose it carefully,” Purbaya said.

Furthermore, WFH is deemed not to disrupt productivity. Because not all sectors will apply WFH.

“But for productivity, for factories and others that require continuous work, they don’t have to (do WFH). And for public services, they continue, so it should be fine if it’s just one day. So overall productivity won’t be disrupted,” Purbaya added.

Purbaya mentioned that President Prabowo Subianto is directly monitoring the WFH implementation plan. He emphasised that this policy will soon be announced by Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Airlangga Hartarto.

“WFH has been directly monitored by the President. This will be announced shortly by the Coordinating Minister for the Economy,” Airlangga concluded.
