Purbaya Confident Fuel Price Hike Will Have Minimal Impact on Inflation: Goods Transport Doesn't Use Pertamax

Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stated that the increase in the price of Pertamax fuel will not significantly affect inflation. He argued that the non-subsidised fuel is not commonly used by vehicles transporting goods or by public transport, and therefore the price adjustment will have little impact on the cost of goods and services. “The impact should be relatively minimal because Pertamax is not used for goods transport,” Purbaya said at the Parliament Complex in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, 10 June 2026. “It is not for public transport; goods transport does not use Pertamax,” he added. Pertamina Patra Niaga previously announced the official price increase for non-subsidised fuels Pertamax (RON 92) and Pertamax Green (equivalent to RON 95), effective 10 June 2026. The price of Pertamax rose by Rp3,950 per litre to Rp16,250, while Pertamax Green increased by Rp4,100 to Rp17,000 per litre. Corporate Secretary of Pertamina Patra Niaga, Robert MV Dumtabun, described the price hike as an adjustment in line with energy governance and coordination with the government, existing regulations, and global oil price developments.
