Purbaya Commits to Maintaining Fiscal Stability in 2027
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has committed to maintaining fiscal stability whilst ensuring support for the implementation of various National Priorities in 2027. “The Ministry of Finance continues to maintain fiscal performance to drive higher economic growth through various strategic steps in the context of optimising revenue, quality spending, and innovative financing,” Purbaya said during a Working Meeting with Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives in Jakarta on Monday. Amid persistent global uncertainty, the Ministry of Finance continues to optimise the role of the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) as an instrument to safeguard economic growth. The APBN is also directed at improving public welfare and supporting inclusive and sustainable economic transformation. This commitment is realised through the implementation of several main programmes, namely the Fiscal Policy, Financial Sector and Economy Programme; the State Revenue Management Programme; the State Expenditure Management Programme; the Treasury, State Assets and Risk Management Programme; and the Management Support Programme. Meanwhile, support is directed at a number of national priority programmes, including the organising of People’s Schools, eradicating smuggling, developing the Merah Putih Village/Sub-district Cooperatives, the Free Nutritious Meals Programme, the construction of three million homes, improving health services, and the implementation of the mandatory B50 biodiesel programme. The Minister also asserted that the national economic condition up to 2026 continues to demonstrate strong resilience. Economic growth in the first quarter of 2026 reached 5.61 percent year-on-year, inflation was under control, the trade balance surplus continued for 72 months, and foreign exchange reserves remained adequate. On the fiscal side, state revenue realisation reached Rp1,185 trillion, growing 19.1 percent year-on-year. Meanwhile, state expenditure absorbed Rp1,365.4 trillion, surging 34.4 percent year-on-year. Financing was realised at Rp379.4 trillion while keeping the deficit and debt within safe and manageable limits. The government continues to maintain the role of the APBN as a vital instrument to protect public purchasing power, maintain economic stability, and sustain growth momentum while prioritising fiscal sustainability.
