Purbaya Assures Part-Time PPPK Teacher Appointments Will Not Disrupt Fiscal Position

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has assured that the policy on restructuring Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK) will not disrupt the government’s fiscal condition. Purbaya stressed that the government has already carried out simulations on the matter.

“So, we have calculated everything, and this can be done without endangering fiscal sustainability,” Purbaya explained after a meeting between the government and the DPR on Tuesday (18/8/2026).

Purbaya further confirmed that the policy will not disturb the 2027 fiscal deficit target of 2.4%.

As is known, the DPR and the government have agreed that part-time PPPK teachers will be given the opportunity to become full-time PPPK teachers in 2027. Meanwhile, full-time PPPK teachers will also be given the opportunity to take part in the CPNS selection in 2027.

According to data from the Ministry of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (KemenPANRB), there are 955,245 teachers with PPPK status. Meanwhile, part-time PPPK teachers are recorded at 231,246 people.

Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi revealed that the policy on restructuring teachers with PPPK status was an agreement reached in a meeting between the government and the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI).

“We jointly agreed that the employment status will be transferred to become central government employees,” Prasetyo asserted.
