Jakarta (ANTARA) - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has assured that he has returned to good health and that his visit to the hospital was part of a routine check-up.

“Yes (I went to the hospital), but I came out again. It’s normal (routine check-up),” Purbaya told reporters at the Ministry of Finance office in Jakarta on Monday.

Regarding reports on his health condition, Purbaya stated that his blood sugar level has now returned to normal at 118 mg/dL and his back pain has begun to recover.

“Now it’s safe. (Blood sugar) 118 mg/dL is normal again. I think everything is quite alright. My back is normal,” he said.

Previously, there were rumours circulating about Finance Minister Purbaya’s health, suggesting that the State Treasurer was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Jakarta.

Amid the rumours, Purbaya shared a video of himself engaging in swimming exercise, indicating that he is in fit condition.

In the video uploaded to his personal social media account, he encouraged the public, especially the younger generation, to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

“Good morning, guys. Gen Z, don’t forget to exercise—swimming is fine, running is okay, padel is also good. I usually swim. The long weekend doesn’t feel like it,” Purbaya wrote, quoted from his personal TikTok account @purbayayudhis, on Sunday (3/5).

Deputy Finance Minister Juda Agung has also responded to the news about Finance Minister Purbaya’s health.

“Wow, I don’t know. Insha’Allah healthy. Just pray,” Juda said when met after attending an event of the IPB Alumni Association in Jakarta on Saturday (2/5).

Juda also confirmed that the APBN KiTa press conference will still be held on Wednesday (6/5) after it was previously cancelled. The APBN KiTa agenda was originally scheduled for Wednesday (29/4).

According to him, the rescheduling was done to await the release of economic growth data by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), which will be published on Tuesday (5/5), so that the data can be presented in full.

Purbaya had previously disclosed his health condition during a media briefing on Friday (24/4). He admitted to experiencing pain in his back area.

Purbaya said he had to undergo injections at eight points to continue carrying out his activities.

After the event, Purbaya also appeared to have difficulty standing from his chair and had to hold on to one of his colleagues. When walking, he was seen being assisted by his aide.

When asked by reporters about his condition at that time, Purbaya admitted that the pain he was experiencing had not fully subsided.
