Jakarta (ANTARA) - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has assured that the planned import of 105,000 commercial vehicles, or pickup trucks, by PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara to support the operations of Koperasi Desa Merah Putih (Kopdes Merah Putih) will not burden the country’s fiscal position.

According to Purbaya, Kopdes Merah Putih will obtain financing through loans from the Association of State-Owned Banks (Himbara). The Ministry of Finance will then repay the loan obligations in instalments of approximately Rp40 trillion per year over the next six years.

“For me, the risk is clear — there is no additional fiscal risk. Because every year, part of the money is transferred from village fund allocations. So we spend that amount every year anyway. The only thing that has changed is how the spending is channelled. That is how the financing works,” he said at the APBN KiTa press conference for February 2026 in Jakarta on Monday.

In this arrangement, the instalment payments will be made by redirecting a portion of the village fund allocations that are already budgeted annually in state expenditure. As such, only the mechanism for disbursing the budget has changed, rather than any new burden being added.

As previously reported, Agrinas plans to import approximately 105,000 commercial vehicles from India with a total value of Rp24.66 trillion. The fleet will be used to strengthen the logistics system of Kopdes Merah Putih across various regions.

The procurement of these commercial vehicles is intended to support the logistics transportation of Koperasi Desa/Kelurahan Merah Putih. News of the import plan by Agrinas was announced by Indian automotive company Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd (M&M) on their company website on 4 February 2026.

On 20 February 2026, Agrinas Pangan Nusantara President Director Joao Angelo De Sousa Mota confirmed to local media the import of 105,000 vehicles from the Indian company.

The 105,000 pickup trucks to be imported comprise 35,000 units of 4x4 pickup trucks from M&M, 35,000 units of 4x4 pickups, and 35,000 units of six-wheeled trucks from Tata Motors.
