Purbaya Asserts State Budget Fully Supports 'Sekolah Rakyat' Programme

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting human resource development through the financing of the State Budget (APBN). This commitment was stated during a visit to inspect the implementation of the ‘Sekolah Rakyat’ (People’s School) Programme at the Integrated People’s School 2 in Surabaya, East Java, on Saturday (1/8/2026).

“One of the tasks of the Ministry of Finance is to ensure budget availability so that this programme can run optimally,” said Purbaya, as quoted from a written statement received in Jakarta.

During the visit, Purbaya reminded that the ‘Sekolah Rakyat’ is one of President Prabowo Subianto’s priority programmes, aimed at expanding access to quality education for Indonesian children. He expressed hope that the learning opportunities provided through the programme would equip students to achieve a better future and increase social mobility through education.

The visit also served as a moment for the Ministry of Finance to directly observe the implementation of state budget usage in supporting educational provision. According to Purbaya, education financing represents a long-term government investment to produce a superior generation towards ‘Indonesia Emas 2045’ (Golden Indonesia 2045).

Integrated People’s School 2 in Surabaya was built on 6.6 hectares of land with a construction contract value of Rp 3.52 trillion and a budget ceiling of Rp 3.82 trillion. To date, the realised construction budget has reached Rp 3.21 trillion.

The school is designed with an integrated education concept, combining Primary (SD), Junior High (SMP), and Senior High (SMA) levels within a single educational zone. In addition to teaching and learning activities, students also reside in dormitories equipped with various supporting facilities to assist the learning process and character building.
