Purbaya Asserts Solidarity with BI: Deputy Minister Attends Every Board of Governors Meeting
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has emphasised that the relationship between his ministry and Bank Indonesia (BI) remains solid. He made the statement during a presentation on the State Budget (APBN KiTA) at the Ministry of Finance office on Tuesday (21/7/2028).
Purbaya noted that Deputy Finance Minister Juda Agung is frequently invited to attend the central bank’s monthly Board of Governors Meetings (RDG). “Our synergy with the central bank is very close regarding liquidity. We communicate continuously with the central bank; in fact, I imported a central bank deputy to become Deputy Minister (Juda Agung) and exported a Deputy Minister (Tommy Djiwandono) to become a BI Deputy. Mr Juda attends every RDG,” he explained.
This affirmation also serves to counter speculation suggesting that relations between BI and the Ministry of Finance were strained over the transfer of the excess budget balance (SAL). Purbaya had previously confirmed that he coordinated with Bank Indonesia regarding the transfer of SAL funds from the central bank to state-owned banks (Himbara).
“We have been continuously coordinating with Bank Indonesia. So, the amounts and all related matters are always communicated with Bank Indonesia. There is no problem; we coordinate very closely,” Purbaya stated at the State Palace, as quoted on Tuesday (21/7/2026).
