JAKARTA - Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stated that Pancasila values must underpin all fiscal policies and state financial management. According to him, Pancasila is not only the state’s foundation but also a moral guide for civil servants in carrying out their duties and serving the public. “This commemoration is not merely an annual ceremony, but a moment to reaffirm that Pancasila is the state’s foundation, the moral source of governance, and a guide for civil servants’ service,” Purbaya said at the Pancasila Birth Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony 2026 at the Ministry of Finance on Monday (1 June 2026). Purbaya stressed that the management of the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) must reflect Pancasila values, including justice, accountability, and prioritising the public. Purbaya said that amid global challenges such as geopolitical uncertainty, economic pressures, and technological disruption, Pancasila remains relevant as a national development guide. He said humanistic values, unity, consultation, and social justice must underpin every government policy. “Pancasila is the guiding star of the Indonesian nation,” he said. During the event, Purbaya also recalled President Prabowo Subianto’s directive on the importance of returning to the mandate of Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution. He said the concept of Pancasila Economy places the state, business sector, cooperatives, and society in a joint effort to achieve people’s prosperity. Additionally, Purbaya stressed the importance of building a clean, efficient, orderly, and service-oriented bureaucracy. He said the President’s directive has motivated the Ministry of Finance to strengthen bureaucratic reform, improve governance, and maintain integrity. “Every Finance Ministry employee is a guardian of the nation’s image. When we serve well, the nation stands with dignity. When we reject deviations, the nation stands with integrity. When we safeguard the APBN carefully, the nation stands with responsibility,” Purbaya said. Concluding his address, he urged all Finance Ministry staff to uphold integrity, strengthen public service, and foster unity in carrying out their duties as civil servants. “Uphold integrity, strengthen service, and nurture unity. Eliminate sectoral ego. Strengthen mutual cooperation. Make Pancasila a living value in every decision and action,” Purbaya said.
