Purbaya admits to regular coordination with Destry Damayanti

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has admitted to frequently coordinating and working together with Destry Damayanti, the sole candidate for Governor of Bank Indonesia. “Yes, it’s good, she has sufficient experience. And I am quite close to her,” Purbaya said in Jakarta on Tuesday, when asked about President Prabowo proposing Destry Damayanti as the sole candidate for Bank Indonesia Governor. Purbaya stated that the performance of the sole BI Governor candidate, Destry Damayanti, is good, especially since the two had previously worked together when Purbaya served as Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS). He acknowledged that coordination between him and Destry Damayanti has been smooth, and he is confident they will be able to work together well in the future. Previously, President Prabowo Subianto sent a Presidential Letter to the House of Representatives (DPR) to propose the name of Destry Damayanti for the definitive position of Bank Indonesia Governor, a role she currently holds as Acting Governor. The letter was delivered by Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi to the DPR leadership on Monday. According to him, Destry is the sole name proposed by the President to serve as BI Governor. The presidential letter regarding the nomination for BI Governor was submitted to DPR Speaker Puan Maharani and Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad.
