Purbaya: Additional Rp 1.77 Trillion to Cover Hajj Flight Costs from State Budget

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stated that the additional budget of Rp 1.77 trillion to cover the costs of Hajj pilgrim flights originates from the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN). “From the APBN, there is still a reserve,” Purbaya said at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Wednesday (8/4/2026). Purbaya explained that the reserve budget was obtained from efficiency results based on calculations over one year. These efficiency results, according to Purbaya, can be used for positions that need it, one of which is for the additional cost of Hajj pilgrim flights that have increased due to the surge in avtur prices. With this budget, the government does not burden Hajj pilgrims with additional fares. “We have carried out efficiencies. The efficiencies are calculated over one year until the end of the year. If taken and placed in one position, it will later be channelled for new expenditure needs,” he explained.
