Purbaya Accelerates Job Openings for High School Graduates at Customs This Month

Jakarta – Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa is accelerating the opening of job vacancies for employees at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) for high school graduates or equivalent. He acknowledged that this step is due to the high interest from high school graduate applicants and the need for operational personnel in the field. “We are accelerating (the recruitment),” Purbaya said at the Ministry of Finance in Jakarta on Thursday, 9 April 2026. Regarding when the recruitment for high school graduates will take place, Purbaya said it is likely to be carried out soon. “It seems like this month,” he stated. Nevertheless, Purbaya admitted he would still check the exact schedule for the opening. Because, according to him, the recruitment plan has actually been in discussion for a long time but has not yet been executed. “I’ll check again later. That plan has been around for a long time, but I asked why it hasn’t been executed,” Purbaya said. He added that the recruitment will not be entirely the same as CPNS intake. Because the job vacancies opened will be more focused on field technical personnel. “This (recruitment) is for Customs and Excise but designed for field work. While that (CPNS) is for S1 graduates to become bosses, rising up to become bosses. So in the field, we don’t have them, so we are forming field troops. So the graduates are high school level,” Purbaya explained. He stated that the need for field personnel is important to support operations, considering that such positions have been limited so far. It is known that previously Purbaya had conveyed plans to open around 300 job vacancies at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) under the Ministry of Finance, which will be open to high school graduates or equivalent.
