Pupuk Kujang Ensures Factory Reliability to Guarantee Stock Availability
Stability of production is the main key to ensure that farmers’ needs are not disrupted by international price dynamics.
Karawang (ANTARA) - PT Pupuk Kujang is tightening operational oversight and ensuring factory reliability to guarantee domestic fertiliser stock availability, amid the high escalation of conflict in the Middle East region.
Pupuk Kujang’s President Director, Budi Santoso Syarif, in his statement in Karawang, West Java, on Thursday, conveyed that as a subsidiary of Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) operating urea production facilities in West Java, Pupuk Kujang places operational stability of the factory as the top priority.
The escalation of conflict in the Middle East region is now beginning to exert pressure on the global energy and commodity supply chain, including fertiliser. This situation is suspected to contribute to fluctuations in international urea fertiliser prices and disruptions in distribution from several major world producers.
In response to this condition, PT Pupuk Kujang is tightening operational oversight and ensuring factory reliability to maintain domestic fertiliser stock availability.
Budi said that amid the uncertain global situation, Pupuk Kujang’s top priority is to maintain the performance of the Kujang 1A and 1B factories to operate at maximum capacity without technical issues.
“Because production stability is the main key to ensure that farmers’ needs are not disrupted by international price dynamics,” he said.
Regarding the potential for fertiliser exports to help maintain global supply stability amid distribution disruptions due to the Middle East conflict, Pupuk Kujang emphasised that international trade policies and export strategies are the domain of Pupuk Indonesia as the holding company.
Pupuk Kujang’s role is to support stock availability through efficient and high-quality production processes.
“The global market dynamics are indeed turbulent, but our main task is to ensure the factory continues to operate efficiently and reliably,” he said.
Previously, the President Director of PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero), Rahmad Pribadi, stated that the company has export potential of 1.5-2 million tonnes to help maintain global supply stability amid distribution disruptions due to the Middle East conflict.
Nevertheless, he assured that fulfilling domestic fertiliser needs remains the company’s priority to support national food security.
“After domestic needs are fulfilled, there is export potential of around 1.5 to 2 million tonnes that can be utilised to support global market stability,” he said.
He explained that this supply resilience is supported by the company’s production capacity of 14.8 million tonnes per year, including 9.4 million tonnes of urea.
