Pupuk Kaltim Ensures Boost in Initiatives to Strengthen Food Security and Develop MSMEs
PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur (Pupuk Kaltim) is carrying out various initiatives focused on supporting food security, community economic empowerment, strengthening MSMEs, environmental management, education, health, and human resource capacity building. All are aligned with Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles, ISO 26000 Social Responsibility, and Creating Shared Value (CSV).
Corporate Secretary of Pupuk Kaltim, Anggono Wijaya, stated that this year several of the company’s Social and Environmental Responsibility programmes have demonstrated active involvement and direct contribution to all targets. One of the flagship programmes is the Koperasi Bina Sukses Bontang, which focuses on strengthening the capacity of local MSMEs.
“Programme initiatives are designed with a long-term approach and based on community needs. The goal is not only to resolve existing social issues, but also to create independence and sustainability for the beneficiaries,” Anggono explained.
He disclosed that the programme is designed to expand promotional access, partnership networks, and marketing for the company’s fostered business actors. By 2025, the production capacity of fostered MSMEs reached 468 CBM per container, and their products have successfully penetrated export markets in 12 countries.
In the field of women’s empowerment, Pupuk Kaltim runs the PKT Serasi Programme, which encourages the development of processed products with economic added value. This is one of the company’s efforts to strengthen the role of women as drivers of the family and community economy.
Furthermore, the Cendawan Juara Programme was developed to empower housewives, the elderly, and retirees through mushroom cultivation. This programme not only opens new business opportunities within the community, but also strengthens family economic resilience through sustainable productive activities.
In the health sector, Pupuk Kaltim consistently runs the PEGALDAS Programme, which focuses on stunting prevention and management. This programme cooperates with the Bontang City Health Office to support the improvement of public health quality from an early age.
“Meanwhile, in the education sector, we implement the Pupuk Kaltim Peduli Pendidikan scholarship for high-achieving children from underprivileged families in Bontang. Through this scholarship, we strive to expand access to education to create a more competitive and capable young generation,” Anggono clarified.
