Pupuk Indonesia Ensures Subsidised Fertiliser Stocks in East Java Are Secure
Lamongan, East Java (ANTARA) - PT Pupuk Indonesia has ensured that the availability of subsidised fertiliser in East Java is in a secure condition to support agricultural productivity and the national food self-sufficiency target.
“Lamongan is one of our priority regencies in East Java. We guarantee that the fertiliser needs in Lamongan and throughout East Java are secure,” said Eko Suroso, CEO of Regional 3 PT Pupuk Indonesia, while inspecting a fertiliser warehouse in Lamongan on Wednesday.
He explained that Lamongan is a priority area because it serves as one of the food granaries in East Java, while the province itself is a major contributor to national food production.
According to him, the company has begun replenishing buffer stocks in preparation for the next planting season to ensure that fertiliser distribution to farmers remains smooth.
“The allocation of subsidised fertiliser for East Java reaches approximately two million tonnes. Meanwhile, the allocation of subsidised fertiliser in Lamongan Regency for the agricultural and fisheries sectors for 2026 reaches 195,725 tonnes,” he explained.
As of early July 2026, the total realisation of subsidised fertiliser distribution reached approximately 56 per cent, and PT Pupuk Indonesia continues to monitor and optimise absorption according to the needs of farmers, he said.
In addition to maintaining stock availability, he noted that PT Pupuk Indonesia is also coordinating with the Ministry of Agriculture and other stakeholders to simplify the distribution mechanism for subsidised fertiliser.
“We continue to communicate with all stakeholders so that farmers can access fertiliser more easily, while still complying with all regulations and ensuring accountability in terms of supervision,” he said.
Eko hopes that the certainty of fertiliser supply and ease of access can increase agricultural productivity in Lamongan, thereby supporting the acceleration of national food self-sufficiency.
Based on data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), Lamongan Regency is one of the rice production centres in East Java. In 2025, the rice harvesting area in the region reached 153.38 thousand hectares, with a production of approximately 1.09 million tonnes of harvested dry grain (GKP), equivalent to 522.52 thousand tonnes of rice for consumption.
This achievement represents an increase of approximately 16.6 per cent compared to the previous year, making fertiliser availability a crucial factor in maintaining productivity and supporting national food self-sufficiency targets.
Meanwhile, the local Food Security and Agriculture Office noted that during the early period of 2026, the first planting season’s harvesting area had reached 36,818 hectares.
The local government also aims for the rice planting area expansion (LTT) to reach 233 thousand hectares in 2026, as an effort to maintain Lamongan’s position as one of the nation’s food granaries.
