The Coordinating Ministry for Food has affirmed the government’s commitment under President Prabowo to pursue sustainable food self-sufficiency as a measure to achieve food security amid global uncertainty. One key strategy involves facilitating the distribution of subsidised fertiliser through Presidential Regulation No. 6/2025 on subsidised fertiliser governance and improving farmer access to fertiliser. Deputy for Food and Agriculture Coordination at the Coordinating Ministry for Food, Widastuti, stated that the regulation streamlines the distribution process by consolidating 145 previous rules into just three, alongside a 20% reduction in the Cost of Goods Sold (HPP) for fertiliser. Meanwhile, Director of Supply Chain at PT Pupuk Indonesia, Robby Setiabudi Madjid, explained that the company’s transformation is aimed at ensuring farmers receive fertiliser based on the ‘7T’ principle: right quantity, right dosage, right time, right place, right quality, right price, and right target. This principle is critical because proper and balanced fertilisation contributes over 60% to agricultural productivity. Under Presidential Regulation 6/2025 and Presidential Regulation 113/2025, the company is responsible for distributing subsidised fertiliser to over 26,000 official delivery points across Indonesia. This transformation has accelerated distribution, with fertiliser available at 26,000 kiosks and uptake increasing by 13% year-on-year in 2025, leading to a 13% rise in corn and rice production. By June 2026, fertiliser distribution had reached 30%.
