Punishment too light
Punishment too light
From Kompas
Imagine how parents feel when they are faced with the fact
that their under-age daughter is raped. Their grief will be even
more intense knowing that the rapist is only lightly punished.
Our neighbor Cua C.H. (26) was sentenced to five months and 14
days in jail by the Bekasi Court on June 7, 1995. We have no
choice but to write this letter, because the judge's decision has
law binding power. The announcement of the sentence was made in
the parents' absence. As a matter of fact, we were at the Court
on June 7, 1995, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. when the sentence was
passed, but we were told that there was no session on that day.
Obviously we are suffering both morally and materially. Is
this justice?
