Pullman Hotel fire suspected to be caused by electrical short circuit

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The fire that occurred at the Pullman Grogol Hotel, West Jakarta, on Saturday morning is suspected to have been triggered by an electrical short circuit on the second floor of the building. According to the Command Centre of the Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat), firefighters received the report at 07:59 WIB, and seven fire engines were immediately deployed, arriving at the location around 08:04 WIB.

Extinguishing operations commenced at 08:05 WIB. The fire was successfully localised within approximately two minutes, specifically at 08:07 WIB, before moving into the cooling phase at 08:15 WIB. The entire handling process was declared complete by 09:15 WIB. “Fire situation and status: extinguished,” the official statement read.

During the operation, the West Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-agency deployed a total of 14 fire engines and 70 personnel. Based on the initial emergency report, the fire began around 07:54 WIB when hotel security personnel, while inspecting the emergency stairs on the P5 floor, detected the smell of smoke. Upon inspection, officers discovered flames on the P4 floor and attempted to extinguish them using portable fire extinguishers (APAR). However, as the fire could not be contained, security staff immediately reported the incident to the West Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-agency.

Officers suspect the fire was triggered by an electrical phenomenon on the second floor of the building. By the time the extinguishing operation concluded, the fire had been successfully put out and the situation at the location was declared safe. There is currently no information regarding casualties or the total financial loss resulting from the incident.
