Pulau Untung Jawa Urban Village Harvests Maize on National Awakening Day

Pulau Untung Jawa Urban Village in the Thousand Islands regency organised a maize harvesting activity with the community at the PPSU RT 003/RW 03 garden on Jalan Karang Keroya, in the context of National Awakening Day (Harkitnas).

“This maize harvesting activity is a form of synergy among the government, PKK, and PPSU officers in utilising productive land on the island,” said the head of the South Thousand Islands District, Mohammad Nur, in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He said this Harkitnas momentum provides a shared spirit to continue fostering care for the environment and food security.

“We appreciate the efforts of the Pulau Untung Jawa Urban Village together with PPSU and TP PKK for turning the land into a productive garden,” he added.

Meanwhile, the head of Pulau Untung Jawa Village, Muslim, stated that the maize harvest this time reached around 10 kilograms.

The maize harvest was conducted together with TP PKK and PPSU officers at the PPSU garden in RT 003/03 Jalan Karang Keroya.

“This activity also serves as motivation for the land to be used productively and to benefit the environment,” he said.

PPSU officer from Pulau Untung Jawa, Rahmat, said he was pleased to be involved in tending the plants up to harvest.

“We can continue to push greening and strengthen food security in the Thousand Islands region,” he said.
