Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Pulau Untung Jawa urban village (kelurahan) is strengthening its culture of waste management at source by installing stickers on homes that have implemented DKI Jakarta Gubernatorial Instruction Number 5 of 2026 concerning the Movement for Waste Separation and Processing at Source.

“By mid-2026, all residents’ homes across three community units (RW) have adopted waste separation, and 435 houses have been affixed with marker stickers from the Thousand Islands Environmental Sub-agency (Sudin LH),” said Pulau Untung Jawa Village Head Muslim in Jakarta on Thursday.

He stated that the sticker installation serves as both a form of appreciation and a marker indicating that the household has carried out waste separation in accordance with regulations. “Alhamdulillah, all homes in Pulau Untung Jawa Urban Village are now separating waste at source,” Muslim said.

He noted that 100 per cent of homes located in the three RWs have implemented source-level waste separation. Together with the Thousand Islands Environmental Sub-agency, the village has conducted supervision and sticker placement as a means of education and reinforcing the culture of waste separation within the community.

Muslim explained that according to 2026 data from the Pulau Untung Jawa Urban Village, all 172 homes in RW 01 have become waste-separating households. In RW 02, all 162 homes are now separating waste, while in RW 03, all 185 homes have also adopted the practice. “Thus, the achievement of waste-separating homes across the three RWs has reached 100 per cent,” Muslim stated.

According to Muslim, this success was inseparable from community support, environmental cadres, neighbourhood and community unit administrators, and assistance from the Thousand Islands Environmental Sub-agency. “We hope the habit of waste separation can be maintained so that the environment of Pulau Untung Jawa remains clean, healthy, and comfortable,” he said.

Iqbal Aziz, an officer from the Thousand Islands Environmental Sub-agency, added that the stickers were installed after ensuring that households had implemented the separation of organic and inorganic waste. The sticker, he said, serves as an identity marker showing that the household has participated in the source-based waste management programme. “We appreciate the residents of Pulau Untung Jawa who have demonstrated environmental awareness, with the achievement of waste-separating homes reaching 100 per cent,” Iqbal stated.
