Pulau Seribu people get boats

JAKARTA (JP): Residents of Pulau Seribu subdistrict, North Jakarta, received four speed boats donated by several businessmen in the city.

Punky Bambang, a representative of the entrepreneurs, handed over the boats to the residents in a ceremony at Marina Beach, Ancol, North Jakarta, over the weekend.

The ceremony was attended by Minister of Women's Roles Mien Soegandi, Vice Governor in charge of People's Welfare Museno, and North Jakarta Mayor Suprawito.

Suprawito said in his speech that the boats would greatly help residents of the poor subdistrict overcome a dearth of transportation facilities in the area.

Bambang stated that the donation was a reflection of concern on the part of the entrepreneurs in helping eliminate poverty in the subdistrict.

He expressed a hope that more businessmen would do the same in the future.(29)
