Pulang Basamo 2026 Programme Dispatches Thousands of Homebound Travellers to West Sumatra
The Pulang Basamo 2026 programme dispatched thousands of migrants from West Sumatra returning home for the Eid holidays from Jakarta’s parliamentary complex on Sunday. The second wave of departing travellers comprised West Sumatran residents living away from their home province.
The Pulang Basamo 2026 co-ordinator Muhammad Reza Ikhwan stated that participants registered through an online mechanism. The online registration system was specifically designed to reach West Sumatran migrants throughout Indonesia, not merely in the Jabodetabek region.
“We used the online system because it allowed us to reach migrants not only in Jabodetabek, but across Indonesia as well,” Reza Ikhwan said whilst bidding farewell to the Pulang Basamo convoy at the parliamentary complex.
Reza Ikhwan noted that the programme’s most distant participants came from Samarinda and Bali. They registered directly through Loket.com, the official programme partner. Registration proved extraordinarily popular, with tickets selling out within an hour of the website opening to the public.
“Tickets sold out within an hour of registration opening — it was like buying concert tickets,” he said.
Reza Ikhwan expressed gratitude to the West Sumatra Police Department for providing security escort throughout both the first and second departure waves, ensuring smooth travel with proper scheduling and route management.
West Sumatra Police Deputy Commander Brigadier General Solihin stated that the convoy security operations followed orders from National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to serve the public. Buses would be escorted all the way to West Sumatra, with multiple district police chiefs awaiting the convoy’s arrival.
“We have three checkpoints: Lampung, Jakarta, Padang and Tebing Tinggi, where convoys will be divided according to their final destinations,” Solihin said.
Solihin assured that security preparations were comprehensive, with all vehicles undergoing thorough inspection of mechanics, components and roadworthiness. Multi-layered police escort would be provided throughout the journey, involving the Metro Jaya, Lampung, South Sumatra, Jambi and West Sumatra police departments at different stages.
“With proper communication and co-ordination between all police departments, there should be no complications,” Solihin added.
