Public Works Ministry targets completion of KIPP Papua Pegunungan by 2028
Wamena (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) targets the construction of the Papua Pegunungan KIPP (Papeg) in Wamena, Jayawijaya Regency, to be completed in 2028.
Deputy Minister of Public Works Diana Kusumastuti and Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Ribka Haluk, accompanied by the Governor of Papua Pegunungan John Tabo, inspected the KIPP Papua Pegunungan site in Gunung Susu, Hubikosi District, Jayawijaya, Papua Pegunungan.
In a written statement from Wamena on Sunday, Kusumastuti said construction would begin in the second half of 2026 and be completed in 2028.
‘If there are no obstacles, construction of KIPP Papua Pegunungan will begin in the second half of 2026, and its progress will be completed in 2028,’ she said.
‘The construction at KIPP Papua Pegunungan will start with three main buildings, namely the Governor’s Office, the MRP and the DPR,’ she added.
She acknowledged that the construction of KIPP Papua Pegunungan is somewhat delayed compared with the three KIPP in the new autonomous regions (DOB) in Tanah Papua, namely Central Papua, South Papua and Southwest Papua.
‘We recognise that the construction of KIPP Papua Pegunungan is somewhat delayed due to the relocation of the construction site, so all considerations must be recalculated. Despite the delay, we will still push ahead with all of this,’ she said.
‘We are working with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Provincial Government of Papua Pegunungan to prepare the construction documents. Hopefully the construction of KIPP Papua Pegunungan can proceed in the second half of this year,’ she added.
