Karawang, West Java – Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo stated that his ministry is preparing pumps to anticipate flooding along the Pantura highway route during the 2026 Eid holiday exodus.

“We will position pumps at locations that have historically experienced flooding,” Dody said in Karawang, West Java, on Saturday.

He noted that starting this year, the ministry has established joint command posts between the road and water management agencies of the Public Works Ministry.

“Starting this year we have created joint command posts between the road and water management agencies, and our teams will be stationed there. There will be various pumps, geo-bags and all flood-related materials at the command posts,” he said.

With these preparations, he continued, when heavy rainfall and flooding occur, the stationed teams can immediately undertake drainage operations rapidly, minimising disruption to public movement during the Eid exodus.

The Public Works Ministry is prepared to anticipate potential extreme weather during the 2026 Eid holiday travel period. Deputy Public Works Minister Diana Kusumastuti stated the ministry is preparing for possibilities including high-intensity rainfall, flooding and landslides at various vulnerable points.

For toll roads, command posts, Disaster Relief Units (DRU), heavy equipment and emergency response materials have been positioned. For national roads, the Directorate General of Road Development has mapped landslide, flood and accident-prone locations and prepared daily road and traffic condition reporting mechanisms during the Eid period.

Coordination is being conducted with the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas) and the Transportation Ministry for traffic management should disruptions occur.

When disruptions happen, field response teams will react quickly to maintain public mobility.

Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi previously called on all parties to prepare for extreme weather conditions during the 2026 Eid transport operations, emphasising that all stakeholders must anticipate these conditions during the holiday exodus.
