Public Works Ministry Accelerates Bailey Bridge Repairs in Kutablang, Aceh

The Ministry of Public Works is accelerating repairs to the Bailey Bridge on the Krueng Tingkeum Bridge in Kutablang District, Bireuen Regency, Aceh Province. Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo stated that the government is committed to maintaining the stability and connectivity of national roads in Aceh Province, including at points previously affected by disasters or requiring emergency treatment. He stressed that public safety is the top priority in all field operations. “The repairs are being carried out so that the bridge can be safely traversed again, ensuring that community connectivity and logistics distribution are maintained,” Dody said in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday. During the works, traffic on the Medan–Banda Aceh national road section is being temporarily diverted along a route designated by field officers to guarantee road user safety and support the smooth progress of the repairs. All traffic on the eastern Aceh route is being redirected via the Awe Geutah Bailey Bridge in the Paya Teupin Reudeup area, Peusangan Selatan District. The Ministry of Public Works urges road users to follow traffic signs, comply with the instructions of field officers, and plan their travel times to avoid congestion near the site. As of 8 p.m. Western Indonesia Time on 28 June 2026, work progress had reached 71.1 percent. The Aceh National Road Implementation Centre team, together with relevant parties, is working intensively to complete the repairs as quickly as possible while prioritising safety and quality. The ministry also expressed its appreciation to the public for their understanding and cooperation during the repair process. With support from all parties, it is hoped that the work will be completed soon so that traffic on this strategic route connecting Aceh Province with North Sumatra can return to normal, safe, and smooth operation.
